Monster Energy Lewis Hamilton

Flavour: 5/10

Sweetness: 7/10

Aftertaste: 6/10

Aesthetic: 9/10

The Lewis Hamilton Monster is slightly different from the other zero sugar Monsters as this one tastes a lot more like a juice which makes the product seem a lot less fizzy resulting in it feeling like a weird experience. The flavour is noticeably peach however I don’t know If it’s because I personally associate peach to more of a yogurt product, but I feel there is a creamy profile to it which I don’t find to be very enjoyable. Due to it seeming more like a juice rather than a fizzy drink the peach isn’t as unnatural and artificial which is pretty refreshing.

Having a drink which is associated with someone who is a very well-known celebrity as well as a high performing athlete does create an attraction to the product and makes people want to try it even if they don’t know what the flavour is. However, I feel that it is very underwhelming it isn’t the worst but its definitely not the best. Due to the association with an athlete that is why I think the drink is more like a juice to give it a further healthy appearance along with the zero sugar.

The can design is very cool, it has had a lot of input from Lewis Hamilton and predominantly features his favourite colour which is purple. The can gives no indication of what the flavour could be however it is still very appealing to make people want to try it as the colours are so vibrant and the design has connotations of speed.

Monster Energy Ultra Watermelon

 Flavour: 2/10

Sweetness: 8/10

Aftertaste: 1/10

Aesthetic: 9/10

The watermelon flavour of Monster Energy Ultra is by far the worst flavour there is. This is how I feel personally however I think that the completely overly artificial flavour does not even really resemble watermelon and is very off putting. The sweetness of it is expected but even that does not in any way make the drink taste better.

The initial taste is terrible and seems like it could not be any worse, but the aftertaste is awful, you need another drink to get the flavour out of your mouth it is so artificial it is sickening and kind of tastes like metal. I have no idea how it can even be described as watermelon flavoured; Monster Energy say that it tastes like “summer in a can” which could not be further from the truth.

Monster Energy Ultra has become very desirable from being so popular with the gym culture for it having a high caffeine amount without any sugar although when it comes to this flavour it would be worth it to just miss out on the extra energy boost as you will be disappointed and also distracted from what you are doing as you’ll only be able to think about how bad the taste was.

The only redeeming factor for Monster Energy Ultra watermelon is the appearance of the can as the green and red make it very appealing and there is some versions of the can where the top part which is usually silver on most drinks is green which gives it a bit of uniqueness.

Monster Energy Ultra Rosá

 Flavour: 9/10

Sweetness: 9/10

Aftertaste: 7/10

Aesthetic: 8/10

Monster Energy Ultra Rosá is in my personal opinion the best out of the whole range of zero-sugar options that are offered by monster. This was released later than the original flavours in March 2020.

The Rosá flavour has not been properly revealed by Monster themselves as they have marketed it as "There’s no better way to describe the taste than – it tastes like Ultra Rosá!" however I can describe it and it tastes like they have added fruity red berries to the citrus of white monster which makes just a bit better. Although this is the best tasting flavour it is very sweet which does make it hard for it to be consumed very often so it is not one to have as regularly. Rosá is not just good to have on its own because it is also a very good mixer to have with vodka or in cocktails. The aftertaste is slightly more artificial with the berry and floral flavour than it is when you first drink it which further makes it slightly not as enjoyable to have a high volume of it.

The vibrant pink with the silver does make the can look very inviting when sitting on a shelf unlike some other cans the pink allows their to be a correlation involving the colour and the flavour meaning people know that it will be floral and fruity as that has an association with pink.

Monster Energy Zero Ultra (White Monster)

Flavour: 7/10

Sweetness: 8/10

Aftertaste: 6/10

Aesthetic: 6/10

The original Monster energy Ultra is the most common and referred to flavour as it was the first flavour of three to release back in 2015 when Monster Energy launched their zero sugar products. Even though it is the most accessible Monster Flavour I would not say it is the best flavour, I would say out of the zero-sugar range it is second best only being slightly beaten by another newer release flavour.

The "white" flavour is described to be light refreshing citrus and is one of the least artificial tasting and is not too overpowering with citrus. Although like most things with zero sugar the sweeteners that are used does to make the drink sweet can be a bit off putting and make it hard to drink a high volume of the product, Luckily the citrus flavour takes away from the sweetness slightly making it more balanced and smoother, making it easier to have an enjoyable experience.

The majority of Monster Energy Ultra cans have the same or very similar design to each other which does make the aesthetic pleasing however this means they can only be distinguished by colour. Due to the other colours being a lot more exciting and vibrant than the plain white this is one of the least attractive cans.

Monster Energy zero Ultra is one of the most stand out energy drinks globally for its delivery of energy through its caffeine content without the addition of sugar or calories and they have made sure to use that as their main selling point which has had a massive influence on their marketing towards people who are involved in fitness culture as it gives them the energy they need to perform without the negatives of regular high caffeine drinks which are full of sugar.
